Deafening Din – 31/08 – 30/09/23 – Gallery Maksla XO, Riga (LT)

This is my 5th solo show at Gallery Maksla XO. I’m showing a dozen large charcoal drawings and some small paintings. My interest was first focused on people who slept in festivals in the middle of a deafening din. I found it was a great metaphore to many problems our world is facing, from war to ecological disasters. Forecasting a very dark exhibition due to the sole use of charcoal, I decided to punctuate the show with very colourful paintings of people that could hear the din, as they are awake, but chose not to and therefore constitute several figures of denial.
